About Exam

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN will be conducted by the NTA from 2019 onwards. This Examination was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018.  The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) 2019 twice in a year for undergraduate engineering admissions into NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. JEE Main 2019 for January has been concluded however it will be conducted again as a computer-based test from April 6 to 20 again. JEE Main applications for the April exam will be available from February 8th to March 7th. There will be no change in the syllabus, exam pattern, fee or language of the exam.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Academic Qualification :- Students who have passed their 12th class examination or other equivalent qualifying examination in 2017 or 2018 are eligible for appearing in JEE Mains 2019. Students currently appearing for their class 12th examination or other equivalent qualifying examination are also eligible, provided their result should be declared before 15th of June 2018. It is mandatory for all students appearing for JEE Mains that they must have pursued at least 5 subjects with Physics and Math as their core subjects in their qualifying examinations. Students who have studied less than 5 subjects in their qualifying exam are not eligible for JEE Main.
  • Age :- There is no age limit to apply for JEE Main 2019. All candidates (General Category) born on or after 1st of October 1994 are eligible for JEE Mains 2019. For SC, ST and PWD candidates, the age limit has been relaxed and should have born on or after 1st of October 1989 for being eligible.
  • Minimum Required Marks :- For General Category ,students must have secured a minimum of 75% marks in their class 12th board exams or they must rank among the top 20 percentile in their qualifying examination for getting admissions in IITs, NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs and for reserved category, students must have secured minimum of 65% marks in their class 12th board exams getting admissions in different undergraduate courses offered at IITs, NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs.
  • Number of Attempts :- The students can avail a maximum of three consecutive attempts for JEE Mains. The first attempt is taken soon after 12th board exams followed by the other attempts in consecutive years.


JEE Main 2019 syllabus is mapped as per class 11 and class 12 NCERT textbooks to ensure uniformity across the country. The students comfortable with class 11th and 12th PCM will find it simple while going through JEE Main syllabus. Have a thorough analysis of entire syllabus and accordingly formulate a suitable preparation strategy.

JEE Main application form 2019 will be released from 8th February (April exam). Below we are providing the latest news of JEE Main registration 2019:

  • Requirement of Aadhaar card is not mandatory to fill the application, candidates can use other government approved ID proofs.
  • Candidates will be required to apply online for JEE Mains 2019 exam.
  • JEE Main application form 2019 will be available from 8th February (April exam).
  • Candidates have to upload the scanned images of passport size photograph and signature of candidate & mother’s/father’s/guardian.

  • Fee will not be accepted through DD, money order, IPO, etc.
  • The application fee is non refundable.

JEE Main Application Correction 2019

Candidates will be able to correct or modify the detailed in the application form during the correction period. Here we are providing JEE Main application form correction 2019 details:

  • The correction facility will be provided provided in the month of March 2019.
  • Corrections will be done only through online mode.
  • Corrections will be allowed in all entries except exam city.
  • Any additional fee can be paid through credit/debit card, e-wallet or e-challan.


Ques. My surname in Aadhaar Card is wrongly mentioned what should I do?

Ans. For this, you will have to file an application at Aadhaar card centre and get it corrected. You can enter the correct surname.

Ques. I belong to Assam state and don’t have Aadhaar Card. How can I apply for JEE Main 2019?

Ans. You can apply using passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Govt. identity number.

Ques. Can I pay my fee through Demand Draft?

Ans. No, payment of application fee by DD will not be accepted. If paying offline, you will only have to print the online generated e-challan and pay the fee in cash at Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC bank.

Ques. When will the form correction window for JEE Main 2019 begin?

Ans. The JEE Main Form Correction window will open shortly. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will upload the official schedule for JEE Main 2019 shortly.

Ques. Where can all I quote the application number of JEE Main?

Ans. The application number received at the time of JEE Main Registration will be required at the time of downloading JEE Main Admit Card and to check the results as well.

Ques. Whether the examination will be offline or online?

Ans. This will be computer based test and will be conducted through online mode only.

Ques. If a candidate forgets to book his session for online exam, how will he get information about the date and session of the examination?


Ans. If a candidate fails to make any selection, slot will be assigned randomly to the respective candidates as per the availability of the same.

Ques. Is there any provision for students willing to attend for both the exams at different exam centers i.e. Paper -1 as Computer based (CBT) and Paper -2 as Pen and Paper based.


Ans. As Paper-II is available in Pen & Paper mode only hence candidates have to select the center that has provision for both modes. Appendix-2 of information bulletin contains the list of all such centers. Different Roll number or separate admit card will not be issued to any candidates who are willing to appear in both papers.

Ques. When JEE Main 2019 will be conducted?

Ans. It will be conducted twice in January, 2019 and in April, 2019.

Ques. What is the Eligibility Criteria for private candidates?

Ans. The candidates who have cleared their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying exam in 2017 or 2018; or the candidates who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying exam in 2019 are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2019. Candidates who cleared Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2016 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2020 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2019. Candidates who appeared in class 12th/equivalent Qualifying Examinations in 2015, did not qualify in 2015, but passed in 2016 are also not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2019.

Ques. Which scanned images have to be uploaded in the JEE Main 2019 application form?

Ans. The candidates had to upload the scanned images of their photograph, signature and their father/ mother/ guardian’s signature in the application form of JEE (Main)-2019.

Ques. Which thumb impression should be uploaded while filling JEE Main 2019 form?

Ans. Boys have to upload left hand thumb whereas girls have to upload right hand thumb however in case of wrong thumb impression is uploaded, the candidates have to apply the same thumb impression on the attendance sheet during exam.

Ques. How will an NRI or a foreign student enter his/her mobile number?

Ans. Such candidates can enter the mobile number against the field of landline number.

Ques. While fee payment, what a candidate can do if transaction failed?

Ans. Always use internet explorer 6 or higher version to upload form in order to avoid problems. If any case, candidates will not receive the payment status of online transaction (by credit/debit card) is not communicated in real time then fee payment is not accomplished. Candidates have to fill the application fee again through online transaction or by e- challan in order to generate acknowledgement page. If the amount gets debited then it will refunded back within 07 to 10 days.

Ques. Is Aadhar Card mandatory for filling the application form?

Ans. Yes, it is necessary to enter the Aadhar card number in the application form.

Ques. How can Assam, J&K and Meghalaya candidates apply, having no Aadhar card?

Ans. Just they have to enter passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Government identity number.

Ques. What if a candidate has no thumb?

Ans. He/She can upload impression of finger or foot thumb also and same should be applied on the attendance sheet during examination.

Ques. Will the JEE exams get tougher from 2018 onwards due to involvement of National Testing Agency?

Ans. No. The syllabus and the pattern of the examination would remain the same.

Ques. Is there any change in the syllabus of JEE Main 2019?

Ans. There is no change in the Syllabus of JEE Main 2019.

Ques. What is Computer Based Exam (Online mode)?

Ans. Computer Based Exam will be conducted by using the Local Area Network (LAN) to make it more secure, safe and un-interrupted.
